Governors Island is one of NYC’s newest landmarks. Located in the NY Harbor, it’s a short distance to Manhattan and even closer to Brooklyn. You can get great views of the City skyline and the Statue of Liberty, and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life.
- Biking: Governors Island offers miles of car-free biking. You can bring your own bike or rent one from Blazing Saddles or Citi Bike. Visitors can borrow a free bike for up to one hour Monday-Friday from 10 AM to noon.
- Exhibitions & Events: Governors Island hosts numerous free events through the summer, including art fairs, music festivals, and theater. Check out what’s going on this summer.
- Play and Relax: You’re never too old to play on Governors Island! The Hammock Grove Play Area features play structures for all ages. Grab a ball and club to play mini golf at FIGMENT’s course on the Parade Ground, cool off in the Play Fountains and Liggett Terrace, climb and slide at the Hills, or climb in the Tree House.
