Wave Hill is a public garden and cultural center located in the Bronx with inspiring views of the Hudson River. Once the residence of Mark Twain, Wave Hill House is a nationally recognized historic landmark. Visit for free on Tuesday and Saturday mornings to take a peaceful garden stroll.


  • Garden: Explore 28 acres of gardens, grounds, and woodlands. From Herb & Dry Gardens to Abrons Woodlands to the T. H. Everett Alpine House, you’ll find many landscapes to experience. Take a tour of the gardens open this season and learn about the estate’s history.
  • Art Exhibits: Check out artwork that explores the relationship between nature and culture in Wave Hill’s gallery spaces. See what’s currently on display.
  • Views of the Hudson River: Stand under the pergola and take in views of the Hudson and the Palisades cliffs across the river. It’s a favorite spot for many visitors.
  • Events: Wave Hill offers cultural events year round, some paid and some free. There are usually free garden tours, gallery tours, historical walks, and various art project workshops on free admission days. Check the calendar!
