Family Enrichment Centers are warm, inviting spaces open to all community members. They are led by caring staff and parent advisory councils. FECs are meant to promote protective factors – like social connection, access to concrete needs, and parental resilience — that foster strong family and community environments, contributing to healthy child and youth development. FECs are a community-driven spaces where all community members have access to and may benefit from activities and programs (called “offerings”).
- FECs are open to all community members and help to uplift the enormous strengths in each child, youth, and adult who walks through its doors. They support healthy family functioning.
- Giving your name, address, and other identifying information is optional and not needed to visit an FEC.
- Spaces are bright (in both color and energy) and community members are welcomed to participate in any of the following:
- Meet neighbors
- Participate in a café with other parents or community members to discuss issues in your life
- Co-facilitate groups
- Pick up or drop off a donation
- Call or text about a family issue or need
- Socialize over a meal
- Build knowledge or a skill
- Join a virtual meeting or discussion
- Help plan, organize, or lead an event
- Sit, reflect, and relax
- Participate in a range of fun, family- and community-centered activities
- Learn or share about community programs and resources
- FECs may help individuals and families connect with supports if requested, but they do not require any screenings. FECs also do not provide case management.
