Through policy, practice, and advocacy, Youth Action 50 allows young people to address and impact the lives of New Yorkers. YA50s are hosted by City agencies, schools, and community organizations. Youth will gain community service hours, an understanding of how the City works, and personal and professional skills.
- Available in every NYC borough for 14- 21-year-olds
- Offers a chance for youth to work in partnership with adults
- No prior leadership experience needed
- YA50 members create solutions to issues that are important to them, like:
- Advocating for mental health support and resources
- Preventing gun violence in communities
- Influencing citywide environmental sustainability
- Encouraging nutritious diets and healthy lifestyles
- Using art as a tool for social action
- And more!
Who is eligible
Youth are eligible to apply for YA50 if they are:
- 14 – 21 years old
- Enrolled in high school or an equivalency program
